Windows media Center annoyance when I close GW...
Recently, I bought a new Windows Vista Home Premium laptop. Whenever I close Guild Wars, Windows Media Center automatically opens for no reason. I didn't start it and I don't think I tampered with any settings on Windows Media Center.
Anyone know a way to block it from starting?

Try...
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -mce
Start the client with Windows Media Center compatibility, switching the game to full screen and restarts Media Center (if available) after the client is closed.
It might resolve the issue, but don't quote me on it.

You sure? I suggested the the -mce switch was the culprit before to some guy and it fixed it.
Try removing, if at all the -mce command from the target.

It's fixed now after deleting the -mce. Thanks.

Now that this is solved - is it the GW client detecting MCE and silently adding the -mce switch? Very odd behaviour, and I've seen this crop up several times in the forums.

I think so, the shortcut in my directory detected mce by default when I first installed Guild Wars on Vista, but since I always add my own targets ''-perf and -bmp'' I removed it - and I would have anyway because I am aware of what it does. Useless switch?
Either way, cheers, glad you got it fixed.

I found this topic by using the 'search' option.
I'm playing GW on my Vista laptop since august 2007.
In that period Windows Media Center never opened whenever i closed GW. But since a couple of days it does. I haven't changed any settings, not in GW or WMC.
I'm wondering if Anet knows about this so called problem (not really a problem - it's just very annoying). But on the official support on the GW website there isn't an answer for this problem...
Does any1 know more about this or how to get this out of the way?

I don't think it's totally a GW problem, just an MCE interaction problem. It's trying to be helpful, but failing.
Everytime my son turns on his PC or the 360 or the PS3 or one of the two laptops, I get MCE share requestors. Bloody thing.
